When I first heard about Ahi Poke Bowl I was really anxious to try it! The dish has a Hawaiian origin and is just now beginning to make the sweep across the nation. The dish is a harmonious collaboration between raw fish, seaweed, and garnish. It is then mixed with rice and salad. It reminded me a lot of a Chipotle-style bowl but with a sushi twist. It is great for a grab and go lunch especially when you’re on a time crunch.
If that hasn’t been convincing enough maybe this will help.
Ahi Poke Bowl is located in 3701 South Cooper St. I was lucky enough to had a sit down with owner Khang Vo. Originally from the big island he now resides in the Lone Star State. He told me he was really surprised at the amount of Hawaiian within the area. He was so humbled and passionate about the restaurant, and when I told him I drove from Austin he couldn’t stop smiling. He told me he wanted to bring something new to the DFW community, and that’s how Ahi Poke Bowl was born.
You first start off by choosing your choice of rice; brown or white. Then you will decide which poke you will want. I ended up choosing the spicy salmon and ahi tuna.
Don’t forget the veggies. Among the choices are crab salad, fresh sliced avocados, and cucumbers.
Finally, you can splurge with different sauces and garnishes. I really LOVE their poke sauce. It gives the overall bowl a nice little kick!
I am seriously drooling right now as I am writing this. As always thank you for dropping by.
If you have been here I would love to hear what you think. Which bowl combination did you tried?
